Playdate at the Park

We enjoyed a playdate at Long's park last week. Saylor and Claire were finding sticks

Berkley, Laura and Tatum hangin' out on the circle swings The "Jen's"
Gail, Keely and Jeanne admiring our sweet, happy Sophia
Next, after all the work hard work and play, we opted for a continuation of fun. Keely somehow ended up with the girls in her car.
Planet Sub was the destination

A special treat - Nana and Papa also had Planet Sub on their mind

Party player

What a great sport...we had a party for Sophia's 1/2 birthday yet she couldn't partake in any of the activities (water balloons, cupcakes and ice cream) and still had a fabulous time.Although, it was HER party and she could do what she wanted to. :)

It's my birthday

Little Sophia is now closer to a one year old than a newborn.

Sittin' Pretty

My little big girl is growing up so fast. She's now sitting all by herself.

Yum Yum or Yuck

Sophia encountered her first real solid food, rice cereal, the end of August. I don't think she LOVED it...

Ice Cream Social

We stopped at the Legends for an ice cream snack and a bull ride on our way home from KC. Saylor Lillie LOVES vanilla ice cream with sprinkles.

Awesome August

August was SUPER busy - it started off with Sophia finding her favorite new toy, her toes

Sophia was baptized this month...A longtime ago, my dad's mom had found some of her mothers handkerchief's and sent them to a friend to make into bonnets. The day before Sophia was born, my grandma received one in the mail. This is a picture of Sophia in her great grandmother's handkerchiefSophia did really well - I was extremely nervous. During mass she was starting to get a little wiggly, before the big show. I did the quick, do you have something in your britches sniff and discovered she had a dirty diaper. Just as I was leaving to change her, the Father gave us the nod that it was time to baptize. I'm glad that he stayed clean as he lifted her up for all the congregation to cheer
Josh and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary with dinner and a movie. I couldn't stay out too late since I had to get up at the crack of dawn the next day to run. However, we really enjoyed our night together.
The next week Josh had a meeting in Branson, MO so we took a mini vacation with just Sophers. She and I shopped while Josh worked. The first night his group met for cocktails so Sophia wore her favorite cocktail dress.
One of the motivational speakers for his meeting was the good ole basketball coach from down the road - Bill Self .

Not sure how I feel about Sophia being buddy buddy with the KU coach.

Happy August!

The busy month of July

To kick off the month we had fireworks and 1/2 of a cake to celebrate Saylor Lillie's 1/2 birthday. I think she had more cake on her face this time around than she did six months ago at her one year. Next, for some reason, call it bribery if you will, we started a daily popsicle trend. After her nap she would enjoy a cool popsicle outside. The problem was, she was starting to ask for popsicles first thing in the morning when she awoke from the night. She was not comprehending the difference of waking up from a nap and from the nighttime. Thankfully, I think we've finally conquered this task.

Next, now that she's 2 1/2, I decided it was time for her first official haircut. Honestly, it was a bit of a debacle. Not the actual haircut process but all the events leading up to it. We were leaving the next day for Colorado and I had over booked our schedule, as usual, thus it was a bit chaotic. I also tried to cram in a highlight and cut in the process. Although, I only received the color job. Here's the before:Action Shot:
Finished Product: On July 12th we flew to Colorado for a family vacation and to celebrate Papa Nyle's 60th birthday. It was the first time for Sophia in an airplane and she did great! However, flying with 2 kids under 2 is not recommended...
Josh and I really enjoyed our early morning hikes. Saylor loved all of the wild flowers. My favorite part of the trip was the alpine slide! Say is definitely an adventure and thrill seeker like me.
However, her favorite part of the trip was the magnified johnny jumper

The train ride from Georgetown went off with not much fanfare as Say feel asleep 3 minutes into it. Here's the one picture we took of her still awake...
Here's Sophia and I in my Canadian tuxedo...

Once home and back in the swing of things we practiced our daily tummy time fun.
Happy July!
